Amtrak Construction | Weekday Service Delays, Saturday & Sunday Bus Substitution Between Claymont & Wilmington Stations

Beginning Monday, May 22 and Continuing through End of Service, Friday, June 30, 2017

UPDATE: Regularly scheduled Regional Rail service will resume starting Saturday, July 1, 2017.

Amtrak crews will begin a rail improvement project on Monday, May 22nd that includes the replacement of more than 14,000 rail ties and track over a 5-mile span between Wilmington and Claymont Stations.

As a result of this work, available Amtrak and SEPTA track space will be reduced. Customers should expect the following impacts to Weekday and Saturday and Sunday service:

Monday - Friday:

SERVICE TOWARD CENTER CITY: Trains originating from Newark and Wilmington Stations may operate up to 20 minutes LATER than regularly scheduled

SERVICE TOWARD NEWARK: Trains making stops at Wilmington, Churchmans Crossing, and Newark Stations may operate with up to 20 minute delays AFTER departing Claymont Station

Adjustments to Select Trains:

Train #1295 (toward Newark) will not operate. Customers should use Trains #1293 (departing Suburban at 4:51 a.m.) or #1203 (departing Suburban at 5:38 a.m.).

Train #9230 (departing Newark at 8:28 a.m.) will stop at Eddystone Station.

Train #2720 (departing Newark at 8:58 a.m.) will operate Express from Marcus Hook to University City Station. As an alternate, customers should use Trains #9230 (departing Marcus Hook at 9:02 a.m.) or #222 (departing Marcus Hook at 10:02 a.m.).

Train #5249 (departing Suburban at 4:49 p.m.) will terminate at Marcus Hook. This train will not stop at Claymont Station.

Saturday & Sunday - DART Buses Replace Trains between Wilmington and Claymont Stations & Opposite Side Boarding at Marcus Hook Station

Beginning Saturday, May 27, 2017

Customers should refer to the special DART bus timetable (below) as INBOUND (toward Center City) buses will depart Wilmington Station 25 minutes EARLIER than regularly scheduled trains.


Buses will board at or near the station. Please look for directional signage posted at stations for bus boarding information.

MARCUS HOOK STATION OPPOSITE SIDE BOARDING: Due to the construction, ALL trains will board from the OUTBOUND (toward Newark) platform at Marcus Hook Station ONLY. Weekday trains will board from the normal boarding locations.
