Philadelphia Marathon

Saturday, November 17 & Sunday, November 18, 2018

The Philadelphia Marathon and Half Marathon along with the 8K and kids fun run return to Center City Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18, 2018 (see schedule below). Due to the course routing, several SEPTA Bus Routes and the Route 15 Trolley will operate with detours before and during the events.

Below is a list of SEPTA routes affected by the race as well as suggested service options available for some routes.

Bus detour information and updates or changes to service will be published on System Status (customers can also use TransitView on the SEPTA app). Detour times are subject to change. Customers should check System Status regularly or follow @SEPTA and @SEPTA_BUS.

The Marathon's start and finish lines are in the area of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Detours - Half Marathon & Marathon

Detours on the Routes listed below are scheduled to begin at 6:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18, 2018. Select Buses will operate on different routing during the Half Marathon and the Marathon. Half Marathon detours are expected to end at approximately 10:30 a.m. Click on the Route number for specific detour information and available alternate service options.

Service is subject to change. Customers should refer to System Status regularly for updates to routing throughout the day.


Half Marathon & Marathon Set Up | Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18, 2018: 4:00 a.m. - 6:00 a.m.:

In addition to the routes noted below, Bus Routes 7, 32, 33, 38, 43, and 48 will operate on a temporary detour to allow for the setup of marathon events on Ben Franklin Parkway between Eakins Oval and 20th St. Please check System Status for routing information (posted prior to the event).

Westbound Via Vine St.: Right/16th St., Right/entrance for I-676(West) Vine Street Expressway to I-76(West), regular route

Eastbound via I-76(Eastbound): take exit for Vine Street Expressway(EAST), take 15th Street exit and continue on Vine Street to a, Left/11th St., Left/Vine St., take recovery on Vine Street between 11th and 12th Streets

Full Marathon Routing (Sunday, November 18):

Westbound Via Vine St.: L-12th St., L-Vine St. L-Franklin St., to a Left/entrance for I-676(West) Vine Street Expressway to I-76(West) to Route 1 North, R-Wissahickon ave. Exit, R-Wissahickon Ave., R-Hunting Park Ave., R-Allegheny Ave., R-Ridge Ave.,(transfer point at Ridge Ave. and Midvale Ave.). Then via Ridge Avenue, Left onto City Avenue Ramp to I-76 West then regular route

Eastbound via I-76(East) : I-76 east to Route 1 North, R-Wissahickon ave. Exit, R-Wissahickon Ave., R-Hunting Park Ave., R-Allegheny Ave., R-Ridge Ave.,(transfer point at Ridge Ave. and Midvale Ave.). Then via Ridge Avenue, Left onto City Avenue Ramp to I-76 East to I-676 Vine St Expressway(East), Take 8th St. exit stay to Left follow signs for 7th Street to Left/Franklin St., Left/Vine St.(Local Traffic Lanes) take layover on Vine Street between 10th St. and 11th Street

Detours - Trolley Route 15, Saturday, November 17 & Sunday, November 18, Beginning at 6:00 a.m.

Route 15:

Route 15 will operate as 2 different bus routes, one for West Philadelphia and one for North Philadelphia/Fishtown. There will be no service between 40th and 29th Sts. Customers who need to use both routes can connect via the Market-Frankford Line (Girard and 40th Sts).

West Philadelphia Route:
Buses will operate between 63rd & Girard and 40th & Market Sts.

- Right on 40th St.
- Right on Market St.
- Right on 41st St.
- Right on Westminster Ave.
- Left on 40th St.
- Left on Girard Ave. and continuing on regular route

North Philadelphia/Fishtown Route:
Buses will operate between 29th & Girard and Richmond & Westmoreland Sts.

- Right on Poplar Dr.
