Since 1981, SEPTA’s Transit Police Department has been working to provide riders with a safe and secure travel environment, while also protecting Authority property and personnel. With about 260 sworn personnel, the Transit Police are responsible for SEPTA’s 2,200 square-mile service region, including over 100 stations on the Market-Frankford, Broad Street, and Regional Rail Lines.
Officers complete their training at the Philadelphia Police Academy and are then assigned to one of seven patrols zones. Each zone has a headquarters, allowing officers to easily respond to emergencies while empowering officers to make decisions to address specific problems in their zones. |
