Mobile Ticketing Pilot Project

Mozio

Project Background

SEPTA and Mozio have partnered on a mobile ticketing pilot project to offer an easy, convenient, and affordable option for travel between the Philadelphia International Airport and Center City Philadelphia. Pre-purchase a mobile ticket from Mozio anytime, anywhere, from the convenience of your mobile device and use it on the SEPTA Airport Line train to travel right from your Terminal to one of SEPTA's Center City Stations (University City, 30th Street, Suburban, Jefferson, and Temple). The single-use, one way tickets are stored on your phone for convenient, cashless, and paperless transit to or from the Philadelphia International Airport.

The Pilot Program is slated to run from April 3, 2017 until September 30, 2017.

Please be aware that SEPTA is not responsible for inactive, inaccessible, or expired tickets, nor is SEPTA responsible for technical problems with mobile devices, the Mozio platform, or the Mozio mobile app.

Q: Where can I use Mozio to buy a SEPTA mobile ticket?

A: Mobile tickets are available for purchase on the Mozio app exclusively for use on the SEPTA Airport Regional Rail Line between Philadelphia International Airport Terminal stops and the five SEPTA Center City stations.

Q: Which mobile devices is the Mozio app available on?

A: Mozio is available on iOS at this time.

Q: What type of SEPTA tickets can be purchased on the Mozio app?

A: Customers can purchase single use, one-way fares for the Airport Line through the Mozio app.

Q: Are there any fees to use the Mozio app?

A: No. The Mozio app is free to download and there are no additional fees for purchasing or using a mobile ticket.

A: Yes, you need to download the Mozio app from the app store and create an account (using an email, Facebook or Google) in order to purchase SEPTA Airport Line tickets.

Q: What forms of payment can be used to purchase SEPTA tickets on the Mozio app?

A: The Mozio app will accept most standard credit and debit cards.

Q: Can I get a receipt for my purchase on the Mozio app?

A: Yes. Receipts are sent to the email address associated with your account.

Q: Can tickets be bought in advance?

A: Yes, you can buy tickets in advance. On the search screen, you can book a trip for "today", "now" or search and buy a ticket for future use. Tickets may be purchased up through September 30, 2017.

Q: Where on the Mozio app can I find my purchased tickets?

A: Purchased tickets will show up in the Trips menu under your intended date of travel. If it is after your intended date of travel, your mobile ticket will shift to Past bookings, but you will still be able to access and activate that ticket.

Q: How many SEPTA Airport Line tickets can I purchase?

A: At this time, you can only purchase one ticket at a time. However, there is no limit to the number of transactions you can make, allowing you to store multiple tickets on your device for activation.

Q: Can I save my favorite locations in the Mozio app?

A: Yes, you can tag your home, work, and favorite airport by tapping the corresponding icon next to the Destination box on the search screen. To reset or change a favorite location, simply hold that button to bring up an edit screen.

Q: How do I get a refund?

Using Tickets

Q: How do I activate my mobile ticket?

A: You can access your purchased tickets by first selecting the menu button in the top left corner and proceeding to the trips tab. There, you will see your tickets sorted by your expected date of travel. Simply select the ticket you would like to activate and then tap Activate E-Ticket. You will be prompted to confirm activation at the bottom of the screen.

Q: How long will my ticket be active?

A: SEPTA Airport Line tickets are valid for 2 hours after activation occurs.

Q: How do I know how much time is left on my ticket?

A: After you have activated your ticket, the countdown timer at the bottom of your ticket will let you know how much longer your ticket will remain active.

Q: When should I activate my mobile SEPTA ticket?

A: To expedite the boarding process, you should activate your SEPTA Airport Line ticket on the Mozio app before boarding your train and be ready to display your ticket(s) to the conductor. An internet connection is required to activate a mobile ticket.

Q: How do I activate multiple tickets?

At this time, each ticket you purchase will show up as an individual item on the Trips screen. If you wish to activate multiple tickets, simply repeat the process described above for activating a mobile ticket.

Q: Do mobile tickets ever expire?

A: Purchased mobile tickets are valid for any SEPTA Airport Line train for 180 days after purchase.

Q: What happens if I want to use my mobile ticket for a later date than I originally intended?

A: On the trips screen, your mobile ticket will shift to Past bookings after your intended date of travel, but you will still be able to access and activate it. Tickets are valid for 180 days after purchase and can be used at any time within that window.

Q: Will my credit card information be stored on my Mozio account?

A: No. Mozio never stores your credit card information. Your credit card information is safely and securely transmitted to banks for authorization to comply with Payment Card Industry Security Standards.

Q: How can I update my credit card information?

A: You can add or remove credit/debit cards from your account by selecting the Payments tab from the main menu on the top left in the Mozio app.

Q: Does Mozio track my location?

A: Yes, Mozio tracks your location while using the app in order to provide relevant nearby transportation options.

Q: Do I need an internet connection to activate my ticket?

A: Yes, you need an internet connection to activate your ticket.

Q: What do I do if my ticket is taking a long time to display?

A: All phones operate at different speeds, with some older devices using operating systems that might not work as fast. Please give yourself plenty of time to activate your ticket before your train arrives.

Q: What should I do if I'm having technical problems activating my ticket?

Q: What happens if my phone battery dies before I can show my ticket to the conductor?

A: You are responsible for ensuring you have a charged and functional phone to activate and display your mobile ticket to the SEPTA conductor. SEPTA is not responsible for honoring inactive, inaccessible, or expired tickets. If you are unable to display an active ticket, you will have to purchase a fare. Unactivated tickets still sit in your Mozio app and may be used for future trips.

Q: What happens if I don't have an internet connection and cannot activate my ticket?

A: A data connection is required to view and activate your ticket. If you will not have a data connection during your trip, activate your ticket before you leave using your home/work/hotel Wi-Fi or the free Wi-Fi provided at Philadelphia International Airport. SEPTA is not responsible for honoring inactive, inaccessible, or expired tickets.

Q: What if my ticket expires before I can use it?

A: If this occurs, you will need to purchase another ticket before your trip.

A: Emails sometimes end up in your spam/junk folder. Please be certain to check there.

Q: Can I use a SEPTA Airport Line mobile ticket on other SEPTA services?

A: Mobile tickets are available for purchase on the Mozio app exclusively for use on the SEPTA Airport Regional Rail Line between Philadelphia International Airport and the Center City area. SEPTA Airport Line tickets purchased via Mozio cannot be used on any other SEPTA services or to travel beyond Center City.
