Schedules Changes Sunday for Select Regional Rail Routes May 7, 2008 New SEPTA regional rail schedules are currently available online. Passengers will also be able to pick up new timetables at Market-East, Suburban and 30th Street Stations and SEPTA sales offices. The project will install new track, catenary and a modern signal system in an area, known as “K” interlocking, critical to operations for several SEPTA regional rail routes. At the completion of all work, SEPTA passengers will enjoy a quieter, smoother, and more comfortable ride as a result of the new cross ties and continuous welded rail installation. SEPTA customers will also experience increased travel speeds, reduced travel times, and enhanced service reliability. Highlights for the upcoming changes include: *R2 Wilmington-Newark – Saturday service has been expanded with two news trips added to the schedule beginning with the 1:34 p.m. train from Suburban Station. This train has been extended to operate to Claymont and Wilmington Stations arriving in Wilmington at 2:21 p.m. In addition, a new inbound (to Center City Philadelphia) train has been added to the Saturday schedule and will leave Wilmington Station at 2:36 p.m. *R7 Trenton/Chestnut Hill East – weekday service has been retimed in order to maintain connections in Trenton with New Jersey Transit trains and to accommodate Amtrak train adjustments resulting from a concrete cross-tie renewal project north of Trenton. In addition, outbound (to Trenton) midday train service has been adjusted during the weekday to operate 10 minutes later than current schedules as construction of the “K” interlocking shifts to the outbound tracks. *R8 Fox Chase/Chestnut Hill West – outbound (to Chestnut Hill West) midday train service has been adjusted during the weekday to operate 10 minutes later than current schedules as construction of the “K” interlocking shifts to the outbound tracks. Passengers should pick up new schedules and check for changes to their specific trains. Information on all SEPTA service is available by telephone at 215-580-7800 or online.
