Schedule Changes Set For City Transit, Suburban Transit Routes

SEPTA Route 11 Trolley Service Altered For Two Months Due To Track Work on Woodland Avenue

June 11, 2008

PHILADELPHIA, PA  -- Schedules will change on Sunday, June 15, for a number of SEPTA City Transit Division and Suburban Transit Frontier District routes, and on Monday, June 16 for Suburban Transit Victory Division routes.

New timetables are available now at SEPTA sales offices, on vehicles and at SEPTA transportation districts. The schedules are also available on the SEPTA web site at www.septa.org. For additional information riders should call SEPTA Customer Service at (215) 580-7800.

The changes include shuttle buses operation in place of Route 11 subway-surface trolley service between 49th Street & Woodland Avenue and the Darby Loop from June 16 through August 29 as work continues on a track renewal project on Woodland Avenue between 60th and 68th Streets.

Weekdays from 5 a.m. until 7 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, the shuttle buses will operate between 49th Street & Woodland Avenue, and the Darby Loop (9th & Main Streets). On weeknights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and all day on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays the shuttle buses will operate from the Darby Loop to the 40th Street Portal (40th & Market Streets).

During construction, passengers traveling the Route 11 will transfer to or from trolleys at 49th Street and Woodland Avenue.

Woodland Avenue will be closed in the construction zone and traffic will be limited to emergency vehicles, trash pick-up, and local traffic only. Temporary crosswalks will be provided for pedestrians at designated intersections and parking will be prohibited in the work area.

The approximately $3 million project will replace more than 4,000 feet of rail dating from the 1960’s with new continuous welded rail encased in an insulated rubber boot for a quieter, safer, smoother ride for trolley service and automobiles.
