Continuing to Build the Safety Culture at SEPTA

Safety is one of the fundamental principles of our industry. Installation of the Positive Train Control System on Regional Rail is one significant way that we are demonstrating our commitment to a safety first corporate culture for our employees and customers. The time and capital devoted to this program has been considerable but it is an investment well worth making to ensure the safety of our system, customers, and employees.

Because safety is such an important issue the Authority's work will not end when the final pieces of the PTC program are completed this year. SEPTA has joined with the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) to support the efforts of other transit properties in their work to install PTC, and to work with governmental authorities including the Federal Railroad Administration to advance PTC and other commuter rail and freight carrier line safety, SEPTA General Manager Jeff Knueppel serves as Chair of the APTA PTC Subcommittee and he led in the first APTA workshop or PTC held in Washington, D.C. on May 1-2, 2018.
