Starting at 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 8, crews will begin to remove the rail bridge spanning U.S. Route 1 as part of the Elwyn to Wawa Service Restoration Project. The replacement of the rail bridge is a critical phase of the restoration project to restore Media/Elwyn Line service from its current terminus at Elwyn Station to Wawa, Pa.
To perform this construction safely, U.S. Route 1 will be closed in both directions between Valley Rd. and Red Roof Dr. beginning at 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m., Monday, February 11, 2019.
Please refer to the map below or look for detour signage posted prior to the start of the closure.
U.S. Route 1 will reopen Monday; however, traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions for approximately 9 months in the area of the bridge to allow crews to safely rebuild the bridge abutments.
