Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority Serving Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties
When you choose to use SEPTA, our goal is to provide you with the most pleasant travel experience possible every time you ride. But we also make a commitment to provide a safe riding experience and environment for you, your family, and our employees.
Environmental, Health and Safety professionals, and other Authority employees work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to keep a watchful eye over the entire SEPTA system. Whether you're taking the Route 7 Bus or waiting at Hatboro Station for the Warminster Regional Rail Line, we want to ensure that your ride and your travel experience is a safe one.
Having a comprehensive safety plan and program is only part of our effort. We work very hard to communicate this message to customers, neighbors who live near our operations, and anyone who walks or drives a vehicle in and around our service region. That's why you may have seen members of our System Safety team or SEPTA Ambassadors at your station or stop handing out information or you may have participated in one of our Operation Lifesaver programs.
Some of the information may be simple - common sense advice for being safe and staying safe - but one of our tips could someday end up saving your life or the life of someone close to you.
SEPTA has created a public safety campaign "Make the Safe Choice" that we want every customer to follow when using our services. We encourage you to click on the links below and interact with the online materials to learn about the many ways you and your family can be a safe SEPTA rider or neighbor.
Efforts to prevent and respond to future terrorist attacks are being waged abroad as well as on the home front. Vast initiatives have been undertaken by the airlines, national rail carriers, and metropolitan transportation agencies to ensure that passengers are afforded maximum security and protection.
You may have noticed the increased presence of Transit Police Officers in your station or even on your train. Also present throughout the transit system, although obviously less visible, is a trained team of undercover, plainclothes SEPTA Police Officers who are working to ensure the security of our passengers.
SEPTA's Police Officers have been thoroughly trained in anti-terrorism awareness. Specially trained officers have instructed additional SEPTA personnel in an anti-terrorism program that includes recognition, response, and prevention techniques.
Our passengers can feel secure while riding SEPTA. New programs are being introduced to further enhance your security. There are, however, a number of things you can do to help us to protect you and your fellow riders.
