ON TIME PERFORMANCE

Summary Snapshots

July OTP

In the month of July, individual instances of service delays occurred as a result of Amtrak equipment and switch issues, on-going Amtrak work on the Trenton Line, SEPTA equipment and switch issues, and 2 heavy rain events. Overall, 7 Regional Rail Lines achieved individual on-time performance ratings of between 90% and 96% with a combined on-time performance achievement of 90%.

June OTP

Wilmington/Newark Line service returned to the regular schedule on June 4 following the completion of Amtrak repair work following the freight car derailment. In addition, there were 3 events in the month June impacting on time performance:

  • 6/24/18 Trenton: Service was suspended due to an Amtrak train striking a trespasser

  • 6/25/18 Chestnut Hill West: Service was suspended due to Amtrak power problems

  • 6/26/18 Warminster: Service suspended between Willow Grove and Warminster Stations due to a train striking a trespasser

May OTP

SEPTA Regional Rail recorded an overall on time performance of 91%. On the whole, the service performance of Lines operating on SEPTA territory was strong with the majority achieving a 90% or better rating. These high performing routes provided a critical offset for the performance of the Wilmington/Newark and Trenton Lines impacted by a freight car derailment and on-going non SEPTA track improvement project respectively making it possible to achieve the 91% overall rating.

The ability of the SEPTA Operations and Planning staff to quickly formulate an Emergency Schedule for the Wilmington/Newark Line, which provided a greater level of train service and more limited level of evening shuttle service than originally anticipated given the extent of the track damage made it possible to continue meeting the travel needs of a majority of riders. The cooperation and patience of customers during this time was greatly appreciated and SEPTA was pleased to announce the return of regular Wilmington/Newark schedule on Monday, June 4, 2018.
