The Fox Chase Improvement Program taking place on the Fox Chase Regional Rail Line between Wayne Junction and Fox Chase will improve service reliability, on-time performance, and provide a more comfortable and safer ride for the 2,600 daily riders. (Pre-COVID)  

SCHEDULED WORK FOR 2022
  • Installing a Catenary Structure

  • Clearing Vegetation

  • Surfacing Track

  • Replacing Wood Ties & 1,500 Feet of Rail on a Curve

  • Waterproofing an Under-Grade Bridge Along the 12.5-Mile Route

During the scheduled work, The Fox Chase Regional Rail Line will also operate as a Shuttle Bus with a special construction schedule. While these timetables are in effect, service levels will be adjusted and most trip travel times will increase.

We thank you for your cooperation and greatly appreciate your patience while we continue our work to improve service, safety, and travel reliability for our Regional Rail riders.


CHANGES TO SERVICE
FOX CHASE REGIONAL RAIL LINE

SHUTTLE BUSES WILL SUBSTITUTE FOR REGIONAL RAIL SERVICE JULY 5-29

  • Shuttle Buses will substitute for Regional Rail service between Fox Chase, Ryers, Cheltenham, Lawndale, and Olney.
    • Shuttle Buses for Fox Chase Station will stop at the Rhawn St. entrance at Station Dr.

    • Shuttle Buses for Ryers Station will stop at Cottman and Rockwell Aves. under the Railroad Bridge.

    • Shuttle Buses for Cheltenham Station will stop at Longshore Ave. and Martins Mill Rd.

    • Shuttle Buses for Lawndale Station will stop at Newtown and Devereaux Aves.

    • Shuttle Buses for Olney Station will stop at Tabor Ave. and Mascher St.

    • Shuttle service will operate in conjunction with the modified rail schedule.

    • No fare collected on Shuttle Bus for travel to/from Fox Chase.
      • All inbound fare validations will occur at Wayne Junction Station.
      • Please tap your Key Cards on those platform validators or pay cash/credit fares on board.
        • Be sure to tap out at Wayne Junction Station on your return trip.
TEMPORARY CHANGES TO FOX CHASE RAIL SCHEDULES DURING IMPROVEMENTS

    • Inbound buses to Center City will depart up to 40 minutes EARLIER than train times to connect with regular scheduled trains at Wayne Junction for travel to Center City. (Except last inbound weekday and weekend train)
    • Outbound trains to Fox Chase will depart at regular train times from Center City Stations to connect with shuttle buses at Wayne Junction arriving at Fox Chase Regional Rail Line Stations up to 41 minutes LATER than train times. (Except all weekend outbound Center City train times)

SUGGESTED ALTERNATE TRAVEL ROUTES DURING CONSTRUCTION

SEPTA has other routes that you can use while the improvements are taking place. For Rail Travel use:

  • West Trenton Line
    • Rydal Station
    • Meadowbrook Station
    • Bethayres Station

OTHER INFORMATION REGARDING THE FOX CHASE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

During the work on the Fox Chase Regional Rail Line, the sales offices at Fox Chase, Cheltenham, and Wayne Junction Stations will be open during normal weekday hours:

  • Fox Chase: 5:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

  • Cheltenham: 6:15 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

  • Wayne Junction 5:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
